Career History

As an elite junior sportsman Brett had a passion for human performance in the sporting world. This was soon overtaken for a passion for human performance and recovery in severe injuries and disabilities. Part of the challenge with recovery is the financial incentives or disincentives and this led Brett improving insurance culture and management of claimants.

Driven by new challenges, Brett then entered the corporate world and solving critical strategic challenges - this began with armed hold ups in retail banking and led to very significant strategy execution, transformation and turnaround.

During his career Brett has helped deliver over $500 million in annual P&L impact under a range of industries and circumstances – from positive strategic intent to forced and rapid due to dire financial performance.

Leadership Highlights

Interim executive, including a period as Deputy CEO, extended to lead the detailed development of a wholesale re-design of the scheme involving legislation, technology, process and front line capability.

Interim executive at the National Disability Insurance Agency supporting the Deputy CEO to drive the expansion of service delivery and increasing operational outputs to achieve the very aggressive government bilateral agreements for people entering the scheme.

Appointed as Chief Transformation Officer and then assumed Chief Operating Officer role for Gate Group in Oceania. The purpose of the role was the operational and financial turnaround of the business in the Oceania region.

Lead key strategic priority of managing & reducing the overall cost base of Bankwest, achieving market leading JAWS & 13% decrease in cost:income ratio.

Appointed to lead the expansion of Bankwest in the new CBA ownership period and transitioning to an investment and ROI approach that was self funded by Bankwest. Key outcomes were Revenue/ROI achieved and 70% improvement in customer satisfaction (Roy Morgan).

Head hunted by HBOS/Bankwest to advise and lead the armed hold up risk for modern open plan banking in Australia. The key outcomes were director risk liabilities and gaining union endorsement.
