Michael is an experienced change leader, with the scars to prove it.  Experienced working under different types of ownership structures he has always created exceptional value for stakeholders, when they need it most.  Quickly able to get to the core of the issues with businesses that need change, develop a strategy and execute on it, to gain maximum impact in the shortest period of time.  Whether it be turnaround, transformation, business improvement or project related, Michael has had deep experience.

Career History

Starting out in a family business, with leadership responsibilities at 18, Michael quickly developed his leadership style, it wasn’t long before Michael had to take the family group through voluntary administration and there his love for turnaround and transformation started.  After restructuring and succesfully changing the business model, Michael left to find other challenges.  With an MBA behind him and time as head of strategy he quickly honed his strategic skills to identify issues, but his passion was operational responsibility for transformation and change.  Leading turnarounds and change for corporates, private equity and family businesses is what excites Michael.  

Michael’s unique background and his naturally entrepreneurial spirit, brings a calmness to business issues, and a can do attitude to the problems at hand.  He has worked for some of the biggest and smallest companies in Australia, always delivering, always positive.

Leadership Highlights

  • Restructuring and turning around the family business, creating a more stable income stream in places the business had never looked, delivering a complete turnaround in profitability, equipment age, and personnel.
  • Led Boral’s largest project, delivering 200% above budgeted profit, and proving that there was money to be made in major projects which went on to completely overhaul how major projects were undertaken.  Received the managing directors award for it.  
  • Led a perennial under performing business to 3 consecutive record profits , up 150% from previous record, through a focus on continuous improvement, the customer and the people.  
  • Private equity complete turnaround of all key metrics including employee and customer engagement, safety, balance sheet and moving from loss making to a profitable sale in 2 years.  
  • Led the turnaround of a large distribution business, with significant improvement across all major metrics including employee and customer engagement, safety, balance sheet and 150% better return than the previous record profit.
